Comments - You REALLY Have To Be Careful!

While allowing comments to your blog can help to make your blog more interactive and popular you really have to be careful about allowing people to comment on your blog.

I am seeing a trend where people are commenting on blogs not make a genuine comment but to advertise their own business or blogs!

There's nothing wrong with adding a comment as long as it relates to the subject matter of the blog that one is commenting on. But when the commentor just blatantly uses the comments option to advertise their own purposes it's not really beneficial to your blog. I continually see comments that mention mesothelioma and mesothelioma treatment options, domain names from Yahoo, viagra, and even online games and online gaming - none of which really have to do with the subject matter of this blog!

I have visited a lot of blogs that don't allow comments and I can now understand why they would opt for not allowing comments.

I have elected to allow comments BUT the comments are moderated by me before I will add them to my blog!
