My First Adsense Check!

I was reading on another blog about someone who was talking about how it was when they got their first Adsense check and it made me think about the first time I got my first Adsense check. So here's my story about my first Adsense check.

I was so excited when I first joined Adsense. I was a little skeptical at first but the thing that finally made me decide to join Google's Adsense was because Google was behind it. I mean you get kind of nervous and wary when a website asks for certain information but the fact that it was Google made me go ahead with the decision to join Adsense. Well after I got over that nervous hurdle I had to make sure that my (first) blog was approved by them. (I was nervous about that too!) Well after I received approval the time came to get and add the codes which I did but it wasn't an easy process - probably because I was nervous! Well I added the codes and checked to see how they looked and then I wanted to blend the ads to match the layout of my blog and I got that done! Now it was time to check and see how many clicks I was getting. In hindsight I should have known that I wouldn't get any clicks in the first few seconds of having the Adsense ads on my blog but hey I was 'rarin to go!

To make a long story short I didn't make that first $100 the first month. The first month I made something like $50 and I was so disappointed now I had to wait to see what the next month would bring! So I was on pins and needles during the 2nd month. I only had to make $50 more to get a check for that 2nd month since I still had $50 from the first month. So I anxiously kept checking my clicks and slowly but surely I edged up to make enough to get my first Adsense check during my 2nd month! Ohhhh how good it felt to get that check! And oooooh how good it felt to SPEND it!

Top 5 Adsense Boo-Boos

I found a very interesting article about the "Top 5 Adsense Boo-Boos"

Some of them seem so obvious but maybe that is just me!

If you don't know it by now Adsense treats clicking your own ads as a no-no and they will cancel your account if they deem that you are getting invalid clicks - so you want to avoid that at ANY cost!

But I suggest that you read the article because it can go a long way in your keeping a good standing with Adsense (and your Adsense account).

How Much Does It Cost To Join Adsense?

How Much Does It Cost To Join Adsense?

The answer to that is it doesn't cost anything to join the adsense program.

But before you can join the adsense program you will have to apply.

Once you apply your website or blog has to be reviewed by Adsnese and then it has to be approved. But once adsense has given their approval then you can start to go through the process of adding the adsense ads to your site.

Just What Is Adsense?

The more I see the name "Adsense" I realize that it could be interpreted as "ad sense" meaning putting "sensible" ads on one's site.

It's very simple (and sometimes not so) really. You put ads on your site be it a website or a blog. First you have to apply and join adsense but that part is free. You have to submit the url of your site and adsense has to review and approve it. Once your site is approved then you can go through the process of picking the size and color of the ads that you want to appear on your site. You can't pick the specific/exact ads that appear on your site but you can filter some of them. The ads that appear on your site will depend upon the content of your site.

For instance I'm having a problem with the adsense ads not showing up on my blog but they are still appearing on my website

Everytime a visitor to your site clicks on the ads you get paid. Of course there are some ads where you get paid when the ad appears on your site and the visitor to your site sees the ad(s) but you can't pick when that option appears.

Now you don't actually get paid until your earnings reach $100 during the month. If your earnings don't reach $100 during the month then your earnings will be rolled over into the next month until your total reaches $100. Once you reach that $100 you can either get paid via regular check or by bank transfer.

I have to say this as a caveat though because it is happening to me right now.

You have to be careful and not violate Adsense's terms of service and you have to be careful about invalid clicks. I don't know what the issue is with there being no adsense ads on my blog right now but I have contacted Adsense via email and I'm supposed to get an answer within 24 - 48 hours.

Do You Have G.A.S.S.?

It is short for Google Adsense Stats Syndrome!

The Google Adsense Blog talks about it and it kind of sounds like what I went through during my first few weeks with adsense.

I couldn't wait to check how much money I had made and I would check like once every hour! I know - crazy isn't it? Well after a few months I have calmed down a little bit - now I check like every 4 or 5 hours - LOL!

Blending Your Adsense Ads

I want you to take a good look at the Adsense Ads that appear on the right side of my blog. They blend in perfectly with the rest of my blog's layout don't they?

One of the services that I provide is providing you with the right hexi codes that match the color of your blog or website. I provide the color codes for:

  • your site's background

  • the border color

  • your text color

  • your title color

  • the color of your url/link(s)

I charge $49 for this service and you can make your payment via the PayPal button on this blog or on my Adsense Consultant page

If you're wondering how well I can match the color of your site all you have to do is look at the Adsense ads on my sites and judge for yourself! However I do want to point out that I only provide this service for solid colored backgrounds! Although I'm working on a way to be able to blend an Adsense ad into any type of colored background I'd first have to check with Adsense to see if they allow this kind of thing.

Security Breach!

Adsense has to be very, very careful about their eagerness to help those people that are still trying to learn Adsense. There is an Adsense Blog, Adsense Question and Answer forums and even help information on Adsense's main page. Don't get me wrong though because Adsense provides a lot of resources to help people to better learn Adsense. But as I was surfing around and checking some related information I found a site of Adsense's that inadvertently let slip some information about one of the ways that they use to determine invalid Adsense clicks! Whoa! Do you know how valuable knowing this kind of information would be!

I don't think that Adsense is aware of it or they might not have given it another thought! But can you remember a time when you were just trying to be helpful and you let something "slip"?

Invalid clicks has been the most often cited reason why an Adsense account has been banned. Even though I have read the message forums where people have posted about their Adsense accounts being banned because of invalid clicks and them saying that they did nothing of the sort, I now know one of the ways that Adsense determines invalid clicks and I have to tell you that this method is a very good indicator that invalid clicks are being made.

Of course the amount of money that you can make using Adsense will vary but just in case you're curious as to what other people are making with Adsense here is a link to a post:

Adsense Consultant

I figure that since I'm going to become an Adsense Consultant that I might as well start a blog about it. I mean that's how a lot of people are making money with Adsense isn't it? Of course there are many Adsense-related blogs out there but since I'm a consultant then there is no better way to show it than to have an Adsense blog of my own!

So why did I decide to become an Adsense Consultant (and add yet another blog to my work load) - because I have seen sooooooo many questions posted by people that either have or want Adsense but are just having so much problems with it.

When I first started using Adsense I was nervous and scared and signing up for it and waiting to get approved was nerve wracking!

But of course the thought of actually being able to make money with my blog or website kept me going! After my site got the OK from Google's Adsense I went through the process of adding the codes to my site and anxiously waited for the ads to appear! Once the ads were on my site I was ready and 'rarin to go to make money! I kept watching my statistics almost every hour by the hour (sometimes more frequently) and then the pennies started to trickle in............I kept watching and then a few more pennies started to trickle in...I was excited and nervous and waiting for the second that my statistics would show that I made a million dollars! But it didn't happen that way (at least not yet).

I have come to learn that you really have to work at it. Some people are lucky in that as soon as they put the Adsense ads on their site they start making a lot of money but for me it is a constant learning experience - one that I am going to share with you!
